Tokyo is one of the most popular tourist and business destinations in the world. In 2018 alone, 13 million visitors flocked to the city, filling the over 100,000 hotel rooms in the city. While business travelers typically look for the best deals, visitors who are on holiday tend to splurge a little. With that in mind, we’ve compiled a list of the three most expensive hotel suites in Tokyo for travelers who are planning on indulging in excess during their next trip to Japan.
#3 The Chairman's Suite, Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Marunouchi | $4,571* per night (¥500,000)
Tokyo at Marouchi, under the management of the Four Seasons Hotel hospitality group, is a five-star boutique hotel located in downtown Tokyo. At first glance, the 57 room (including nine suites) establishment may appear as just another manifestation of Tokyo’s claustrophobic tiny hotel rooms.
However, once you step inside, you will be pleasantly surprised by the elegantly stylish décor, which brilliantly straddles the line between chic and cozy. The jewel in the crown is the Chairman’s Suite, a tastefully decorated 1,722 square feet suite with giant floor-to-ceiling windows.

#2 The Presidential Suite, Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo | $8,685* per night (¥950,000)
The Mandarin Oriental is one of the firm favorites of the ‘old money’ crowd. Boasting157 rooms and 22 suites, each designed with a blend of Japanese and contemporary style, the hotel also hosts award-winning restaurants and spa on its premises. Staying here is a status symbol as much as a stamp of success.
The best room in the house is the 2,691 square feet Presidential Suite. The spectacularly designed and furnished suite has six rooms, including dining, powder, and living rooms, as well as a kitchen and a spa bathroom. Guests also have the option of a connecting room and bath, in case you need extra space for the help. And did we mention the suite has a majestic view of Mount Fuji and Tokyo Bay?

#1 The Ritz-Carlton Presidential Suite | $18,284* (¥ 2,000,000) per night
The Ritz Carlton brand carries a reputation of excellence, luxury, and perfection. All of this is perfectly demonstrated by its 3,300 square feet Presidential Suite. It’s a luxury home away from home. This is the place that Kings, Queens, Presidents, and Prime Ministers want to stay at when visiting Tokyo. During international conventions or G7 meetings, heads of state probably arm wrestle each other for the privilege of staying here. This is quite understandable, considering that there’s even an LCD TV in the bathroom, which incidentally features a gilded Toto toilet.

It’s probably worth mentioning that any reservation to the suites below requires advanced screening and pre-approval from the respective hotel management. So don’t take it personally if your booking is politely declined. Also, the prices quoted are subject to change and do not include service tax, accommodation tax, and consumption tax. If you’re going to quibble about these taxes, the suite is probably not in your price range.
